Simsbury, CT – Drew Goupille, a top player for the Connecticut Nighthawks, has committed to Anna Maria College for the Fall of 2018.

Simsbury, CT – Drew Goupille, a top player for the Connecticut Nighthawks, has committed to Anna Maria College for the Fall of 2018. The 6’3” defenseman from Bedford, MI began the season in the OJHL, with the Burlington Cougars and played in 24 games for the Nighthawks. Drew totaled 10 assists, from the blue line. "Drew was a great mid-season pickup for us. He made our defensive core better right away. There is no doubt in my mind that Drew will have a great career at Anna Maria,” said Nighthawks Head Coach and General Manager, Brett Tryder. “Drew was good in all situations for us and provided stability for our younger defensemen. I look forward to seeing him play in college.”

Drew is one of Anna Maria’s many high end commitments for the upcoming season. The first year NCAA Division III program will be coached by David McCauley who has had great success in the junior hockey world and will no doubt have his team competing immediately.

Drew had some reflection on his time in Simsbury. “It was great playing for the Nighthawks. The organization is committed to preparing kids for the college style game. The facilities in Simsbury are great also, you are on the ice all of the time which allows you to get a ton of positional training. That is not the case at all junior programs. It was my favorite season to date and I can’t thank Coach Tryder and Coach Noonan, enough, for getting me to this point. It has always been my dream to play college hockey and those two helped me more than I can say.”

Drew continued “I am very excited to be playing at Anna Maria College, for Coach McCauley. He has a great resume and has placed a huge number of kids in college hockey. I have a strong feeling that he can carry that into the college level. I am very excited to be joining him.”
