Bama’ scored at a 5.6 Goals Per Game clip, had a team face-off percentage of 60.9, as well as having the sixth ranked Powerplay in D1. Richards also coached Pierre Ouellete, a third-team ACHA All-American. Prior to Bama’, Kyle served as Head Coach of West Virginia University, ACHA D1, finishing his tenure there with a 21-16-1 record.

Kyle played NCAA hockey for Castleton University where he earned many accolades including setting a school record for face-offs with an impressive 72%. He was also a three time ECAC All-Academic Team Selection, Team Most Improved Player (11-12), and Fan Favorite (13-14). Richards also completed his career at Castleton part of the winningest class in school history.

Kyle’s enthusiasm for developing players is unmatched. He is eager to begin working with the team to not only develop them as hockey players but to also help them in the college commitment process. Currently he works for National Elite Hockey in Pittsburgh, PA where he trains youth players and coaches spring teams. NEH has a strong reputation for skill development in the Pittsburgh area, headed by former Chicago Blackhawks draft pick and University of Maine player and mentor to Kyle, Cliff Loya. Kyle plans on bringing his growing knowledge and emphasis on individual skill development to the Nighthawks organization.

As a new team in the league, the Nighthawks are looking to make a strong first impression that turns into continued success. This is only possible with a dedicated and knowledgeable coaching staff.  Kyle will be a vital member of the staff that makes it a reality.
